OK - I have been arguing about this for days with my other 1/2 so I need you lot to settle it. During the third trimester of pregancy, some women's belly buttons go from an "innie" to an "outie", often refered to as popping. Is this change sudden or is it gradual? Please help me settle this once and for all, before I decide to poison his pack lunch just to shut him up!

It is gradual, first starts out kind of flat like you don't even have one, then it will protrude outwards, but it doesn't happen over night!

Belly Button Popping During Pregnancy

:) I'm in my third trimester now and my belly button is completely popped. However starting in the 2nd trimester it was kind of half in and half out. My uncle calls it "the turkey timer" and the baby is done when the belly button is tight. LOL. It just depends on the woman and the baby really- their sizes and how tight the ladie's tummy is. A skinnier person is more apt to have a popped out belly button than a bigger woman. Below is a link to a group that I frequent and they have a whole page about pregnant belly buttons. :)

It's gradual. At least mine was, first it seems like your belly button gets really wide, then it starts to pop out, gradually, you don't wake up one morning and go from an innie to an outie.

It's gradual. It can pop at any time. My belly button popped at the end of the 1st trimester.

This does not happen to everyone, so dont panic. My belly button did not pop with either of my pregnancies. Mine just went slightly flat but still actually an innie.

well unless you just blow up over night it tends to be a gradual thing... my naval took about 2 1/2 months to completely pop out... it may not take as long for other women .. i didn't gain much weight so it all depends on that... but yes it is a gradual thing not something that just happens overnight

gradual...some women don't get an "outie"...their "innie" just gets progressively shallower...i can see the bottom of mine, and i'm only a week away, so i guess i'll never experience the joys of outiehood. but...yes...it's gradual...and his better half is right...as usual.
