I am trying to compute the average % change per year of these three numbers and do not know the formula to do this in excel could some one help me. I have already figured out the % change of all three numbers but am unable to figure out the formula for %change/yr.

Your numbers look a bit screwy. I'll use 70,258 for yr 1 (box A1), 136,304 for yr 2 (box A2), and 238,041 for yr 3 (box A3).

For the % change from yr 1 to yr 2, the formula is:
=(A2-A1)/A2

For the % change from yr 2 to yr 3, the formula is:
=(A3-A2)/A3

Format the cells with % to get a % instead of 0.xxxx.

if these numbers are entered in a column... its easy
take the example where munbers are entered into A column in cells a2,a3,and a4

(old - new) / old ..... is (a2-a3)/a2
next (a3-a4)/a3
