which actor would you cast in the role of the main character Roland Deschain?

The guy who had the role of Strider in The Lord of the Rings. Sorry my mind has gone blank as to his real name. I do know that he is tall dark and very handsome . LOL

Hugh Laurie....it's those piercing blue eyes that are Roland's trademark. Also he's not "hot" and Roland is "long, tall and ugly". Laurie is rugged looking, like Roland. And has just the right sense of humor. I think he could pull it off.

Clint Eastwood would have been great, Terence Hill would have been better, but they are both too old.
Viggo Mortensen I think could pull it off.
I hope they do make a movie....love Stephen King!

The "guy who played Strider" is Viggo Mortensen, but I think I'd give the role to Clive Owen, who seems "darker".

my 25 year old son read the series and we talked about this too. he said, and i quote, "clint eastwood would have made the perfect roland. too bad he's like 100 years old." i would have to agree on the guy who played strider.
