When I have my operation in November, I'm more worried about my hair going thin, than anything else. Has anyone suffered this afterwards, and did they find HRT helped ?

I had my hysto for my 25th birthday. Now life is cool. Didn't loose any hair or nothing weird like that. Lovin the idea of no periods! You can now save the money you were using for pads/ tampons for something cool that you really want. Just think no more cramps and bleeding. I still feel homornal once a month probably b/c I still have one overy. But in the long run I guess I am happy. At first I was upset b/c I felt like I wouldn't be a full woman anymore. I got over that. Now I am fine with it. And I was only down with recovery time for a few weeks. My husband and family helped out a lot. Good luck with everything.

I had my hysterectomy in 2001 at the age of 28 to take care of cervical uterine and ovarian cancer and I was worried about what you fear as well. Speaking from experience you can Expect to have hot flashes that come and go when they please( I found if I was really upset , stressed or extremely busy then tended to come more frequently) night sweats( sleeping in light weight cotton night gown or even nude helps this alot or I even got a fan pointed just on me so as not to freeze my husband out of bed) You may have mood swings , vaginal dryness which is rough during intercourse but a little KY lubrication helps ALOT. You may have a lack of interest in sex as well. My hair never got thin but did fall out from my treatments and it has been years since those and my hair is as thick as it ever was. I do take HRT's and they come with risks as does everything else in the world today and it does help me with the hot flashes, night sweats , vaginal dryness and lack of libido. It has not made all the issues go away it has made them bearable and its made me bearable to be around. Good luck on your surgery . I hope this helped you out.
