Sound waves are pulses of air pressure (condensations followed by rarefactions) that do produce electricity in a microphone (by moving a magnet within a coil of wire, etc.) Although a symphony orchestra can fill an auditorium with a magnificent volume of sound (and the musicians are furiously working their instruments) the energy in the sound waves is barely enough energy (about 10 watts) to heat a cup of coffee. The signal in a microphone must be greatly amplified to be audible. However, check the table in the link for the sound power of a Saturn rocket! There is nearly a pure vacuum between the sound pulses.

Sound waves are the compression and expansion of the air.

Everytime you talk on a telephone or into a microphone, you are creating electric waves that mimic the sound waves - and these are converted back to sound through ear phones or loudspeakers.

Sound waves are oscillations of atoms that travel over distances. They can be converted to electricity using what are called piezo-electric transducers. These are made from materials such as perovskite that have asymmetric charge in ther atoms structure, under compression they create a net flow of electric charge.

in general the waves which generate the sensation of hearing is known as sound waves!!!yes i think it can genarate electricity!! if the soun vibration is extended to such extent that electricity is generated!!!after all sound is form of energy and energy can transformed in other form!!!

Sound waves are the vibration produced by the surface. sound are two types audible & inaudible,by pezioeletric crystal when we applly mechanical pressure in the opposite pairs of crystal equivalent charge will be produced, wen we place this crystal in between the capacitor eletriccurrent can be produced please send me e-mail for any queries
