Well if it is beside your plate as you had stated then that means it was there before the food came and I would have to just ask for a different table .It is not something that the waitress did ,to deserve to lose a tip .

I would point it out to them and ask for another meal or my money back,as that maybe a sign of bad hygiene in the kitchen
