How does medical coding and billing compare with medical transcription. I am looking into both.

I have never worked in medical coding and billing but I've been a transcriptionist for 9 years. It is completely different from coding and billing. You type reports that doctors dictate and you have to be VERY knowledgeable in medical terminology, be able to understand various accents, and type fast. If someone else can answer about the coding and billing end, then maybe you can compare the information and see which would benefit you. Most MT companies though require some amount of education and/or experience before hiring you. Some don't. www.MTDaily.com has listing of available jobs and requirements.
