great answers to everyone. that bag containing money was the preacher from a church and he accidentally left it on top of his car while driving to the bank to deposit it. i myself am not very religious. but i think i would burn in hell if i had kept it. i would have turned it in. i want to live in heaven forever with my true friends.

Just because it was in a bank bag doesn't necessarily mean that it belongs to the bank. I would advertise that an amount of money was found and give the general area. Anyone wanting to claim the money as theirs would have to give the exact amount, give a close idea of the denomination of the bills, identify the bag, and give a fairly close location as to where it was lost. I would advertise this in the classifieds, and if I doesn't get any response or the correct info after a few weeks, then I would keep it.
Just because you may be an honest person, doesn't mean that the person who you turn the money over to will be.

I would definatly take it back if the bag had a persons name on it or a charity or organisation emblym on it.. but a bank, probably not. It depends. If I found a wallet and it seemed like an honest mistake I would hope I would turn it in. But a bag with 4K in cash sounds pretty fishy to begin with -- turning it in might just give it back to a criminal, in which case I think it would be better off in my hands. :)

Wouldn't you feel grateful if someone returned your bag with the $4000 still in it? I know I would so I believe honesty is the best policy!
