A female-to-male transgender is a person who is living in a woman's body but has a male-type brain and wants their body to become male because they feel "dysphoria". (That's the opposite of euphoria. How it is is differrent for each person, but I promise you, they experience it as suffering.) In simple language, they just don't feel right in a woman body.

After the op, a transgender will to general appearances be the gender they have become, but science cannot as yet give them the reproductive functions of heir new gender. In plain language, a trans who surgically becomes a man is a man, but if you're his woman partner you'll have to make special IVF arrangements if you want to bear his children.
