There's a HUGE difference between "most famous" and "most popular".
Judging by the way every radio station on the planet overplayed the HELL out of it - I'd say "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" is the most famous, yet most annoying song in all the world.
Personally I rather enjoyed "(Good Riddance) Time of Your Life" - both famous AND bearable. Granted in 1999 it was used over and over again for graduations and similar events, but it's still a great song.

"Good Riddance" it is played at funerals and was even played at the end of Seinfeld. It's more popular than the newer ones and been out since 1996.

I would say "Basket Case". Its old but everyone knows who its by even if they arent Green Day fans.
