yes, i believe that it is possible for a boy and girl/ man and woman to become and remain as friends, without being ever sexually attracted to each other. this is also known as in philosophical terms 'platonic love' which was first coined by plato centuries ago. i've made friends and got along well with many males of whom i've come across in my life and where it has never gone beyond further than just friendship. but its a typical reaction that you get from certain people when they see you if you're man getting close and really friendly with a woman and vice versa with a woman and her male friend. of course a couple of years later they could eventually become lovers, but as we've seen before and it has been proven time and again that two people of completely opposite sexes can be friends, have the same interests and hobbies, as well as some things in common and get along well with one another without ever considering falling into bed with them.

I think it depends on the indiviual at the end of the day. Some people can stay friends with an opposite sex without any sexual attraction. As for some may not. If you can withheld your jealousy if your best mate (opposite sex) have a new gf or bf then you will know you like them more than just friend!

There can be but it is a delicate balance because like it says in "When Harry Met Sally", "The sex thing is already out there."
Watch this movie, it's about this very subject and a great laugh.

Yes, though not often. Very young children, thanks to the battle of the sexes culture, are encouraged to compete and show contempt for the opposite sex. Or, if they are good friends, often grown-ups would tease them or give it a sexual slant and the children are put off making friends with the opposite sex. This explains why so many grown-ups pursue lust passionately but so few of them really like the company of the opposite sex.

That clearly depends on the boy and the girl you're talking about.

My best frind is a guy, we talk about everything and I do mean everything, from life to what's upsetting me or him. We talk about books and philsophy, music and society, and just general rubbush. I can tell him anything and he listens, and vice versa. I trust him implicitly, and he I. So yes a man and a woman can be just friends.
