Let's say, twenty years from now, you run for public office and wiretapping is legal. Your liberal opponent has a friend who can listen to all your conversations because this friend works for national security. Any conversation you have can be heard. Same goes for your family who you may or may not control. Good idea? No way.

It is a clear and direct violation of our constitutional right to privacy.
It means they lied when they said they promised to uphold and protect the constitution of the United States.
They can do it legally through a court order. Why do they want to do it illegally? Should they be punished for such illegal actions? Should they be punished for violating their oath of office?

It's not the monitoring - it's the lack of oversight.
That program was set up with a special court to provide rapid approval of this wiretapping - and yet they bypass it, why?
Checks and Balances are important - would you give blanket and unreviewed access to wiretapping to your opposition Political Party?

Because the liberals don't want to follow laws. If you're not doing anything illegal, such as b**t F**king your 8 year old son on a bed in front of a web cam, I still don't understand why NAMBLA is allowed to march in gay pride parades, why do you fear things designed to keep Jihad Johnny from killing your fellow citizens?

Liberals thinking that they are above the law for reasons yet to be explained will whine and lie about phone monitoring because in the empty lives they have little else to do...

I'm not liberal but I think it has to do with hate. See Liberals are so filled with hate that they can't see.
Now if 9-11 happened under Clinton's watch and Clinton needed to take drastic measures to increase security, that would be OK. So it is basically blind hate and blind stupidity.
I mean look at the rash of stupid questions these people ask. Are they for real? They are so consumed by hate.

has a governement with no oversight EVER been a good idea?
DO YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT HISTORY?
do you trust the government to take action's with no oversight?
why? because you're afraid? is that a good reason?
you can get a warrant up to 8 hours after you execute an action... so why don't they want to get warrants?

I think it comes down to a combination of mistrusting the current administration's motives and it's blatant power grab.

The government only moniters phone calls to terrorists.
Why get all mad. Why don't the Liberals just write letters to their terrorist buddies?
