Because that's how it was made back in the day with Roman Gods who started it. Each day of the week was named after one god. That's some kind of a dumb quesiton. The other answer is that there wasn't room to add any more days to the calender.

to properly answer this question, i would have to do way to much research. let's just say it has to do with the time it takes the earth to complete it's circuit around the sun.
you could also ask why are there only 12 months in a year, or 10 years in a decade. or why do some months have 5 weeks, while others have 4, or why don't all months have the same number of days. man, i could go on but.....................................
