I can actually envision some times when a lie is called for, like if the country is at war and there is some secret you don't want the enemy to know, you either say you don't know something that you do actually know, or say something different from the truth so your enemy won't have that advantage against the troops. Maybe even some big economic news that might hurt the country if it got out, like if they were planning to devalue the dollar, or legally, if they were going after a criminal and didn't want him to know the police would be looking for him. So yes, there are a few cases where I'd be OK with it. Not a lot, but some.

When the lie is used to bait or find a criminal who is dangerous or has kidnapped someone.

What is a lie?
Any statement intended to deceive.

So even if a true statement, could be a lie, if it was told under circumstances where it be used to deceive someone, or in a manner that would make the person believe the opposite.

it really is okay because almost all of human beings enable them lie! in this age of "something is going" contained in the media, human beings actually trust lots of the crap they see on television. maximum human beings do not look on the topic matters handy, or do sufficient heritage paintings to make an counseled selection. Politicians understand this, and kit their campaigns to "tear the different guy down"--type of like the former sport of "i have were given a secret," the position someone tells someone a narrative, and through the time the "spin" is placed on it, it would not resemble what changed into began in any respect! they're going to proceed to lie till we as human beings tell them that sufficient is sufficient!

It is never OK for anyone to lie. There are times that government leaders need to keep things with in the boundaries of "need to know."
