south africa are the host...so they qualify ..the hosts automatically qualify for the worldcup....and the hosts always plays the first game of the worldcup..the opening i mean..
so there has never been a host nation of the football worldcup whom has not qualified for the same worldcup

all previous FIFA World Cup finals have at least one automatic qualifier & that's the host nation. SOUTH AFRICA has qualified automatically for the 2010 FIFA World Cup finals as the host nation. the other 31 nations will be known when the qualification for the 2010 FIFA World Cup completed in November 2009.
