take it down to your local antique dealer, they will tell you about it for nothing and will value it for you.
Try looking on the web under his name if you put the name in " " you get better, more pressies results.
It might just have been an amateur practising his or her hobby though.

The Antiques Roadshow have there own website. Go on there and you can find all the items that have been shown on the tv. It also gives a rough valuation of the items.

Bring it to any antiques store, they can give you an idea of where it'sd origins are and what it could be worth, if anything.

I would suggest Arthur Negus but he's been dead 20 years. Have you thought of cheeky, cheap as chips, chappie David Diddie Dickinson. He'll probably buy it from you too.

The artist is H.G Plumb. I cnat tell you what date that would be from but if it is the original painting it is worth $$

try millers antique guide but take it to a few shops it may not look what it is there are so many fakes a round these days called (reproductions)
