Chances are it's not coming directly from your shower, it's probably the main drain that your shower runs into. My old man's a plumber and from what I've learnt off him over the years it's caused everytime you run water in your bathroom because you are disturbing the water sitting in the drain below, usually outside where the guutter pipe runs into as well. Try treating that instead. If you rent then it's your landlords responsibility. Even better if your place is council/gov owened then give their maintenance team a ring and they'll usually be out within 48 hours to unblock your drains.

The first thing is to determine if it is fact coming from the drain pipe - slowly pour two cups of water down the drain in an effort to fill the "trap" that is supposed to be under the drain. This trap is what blocks the sewer gasses from coming back up into the shower. Do not run or flush water elsewhere in the house during the experiment as that might suck the water out of the trap. If the smell improves then something is causeing the trap to drain and solving that is your next step. If not, don't discount the dead mouse theory.

Ok here a solution...
u need : SALT (lots of it) BOILING WATER, and GROUND UP CHARCOAL
Dilute some salt into the water, and pour the lot down the drain, then pour the salt down,, then the charcoal grindings ( the salt helps eat away the gunk , and believe it or not, the charcoal helps absorb pungent smells)
Another tip for smells...
If your refrigerator is smelly and youve cleaned it out many time and it still smells, then leave a lump or two of charcoal in the back of the fridge (and just replace it every so often)

go to your local supermarket and buy a bag of soda crystals its only cheap about £1 and pour half a bag down the plughole last thing at night and by morning the smell will be gone. You might have to do it once every week or two but you cant complain at a quid.

I have to agree with the other person. Peeing in it will make the hole have a bad odor after awhile and I am not sure how to actually rid the smell. (IF that is the root cause of the smell). Good luck.....try some baking soda and let it sit there for a few hours.

The trap is either leaking out the water that stops sewer gas from coming up, or was not installed to begin with. Have a plumber check it out.

Soda crystals,a few times its cheap enough or is the issue bigger than you think? could be connected to the mains having problems & all is backed up.Are you on top floor ? Middle?Ground? Basement? Go to your local D.I.Y store explain the continuing situation they should point you in the right direction.
