Why on earth should France give a damn about American domestic policy ? All the French care about is themselves, in line with every other European state except the UK, which is the lapdog of Mr Bush at the moment.
As for any debate over this, I doubt Bush will pay much attention to anyone, least of all some European country that doesn't even speak American.
