A press conference allows you to ask questions concerning the information being presented. A news release is merely informational with no method of clarification.

Hi. This isn't necessarily an advantage as such, but a press conference should only be used for important news announcements. It conveys the importance of the event to the news media much more than a 'standard' press release. That said, reporters are busy and may not always be able to attend a press conference, so you should always follow-up with those that do not attend with a summary of the event. I hope this helps.

PRESS RELEASE DOES GIVE US INFORMATION, BUT A PRESS CONFERENCE ALLOWS THE PRESS TO ASK QUESTIONS TO EITHER CLARIFY OR TO RAISE OTHER QUESTIONS NOT ANSWERED IN THE CONFERENCE.
