There are a multiplicity of answers to this, but the problem with most is that they start with, or result in, generalisations. And what do you mean by "outperform"?
Outperform connotates competition - but in many cases men and women do not compete: their are actions are frequently complimentary, e.g. mother/father, egg/sperm. They can, and do, compete in the workplace but any outperformance will normally be as a result of the individual's ability, character etc and not as a result of gender (or that is the ideal).

Parenting. It's not always true, there are some amazing dads out there. But in general, women are better at parenting and i think it's because they have a strong bond due to the fact that they carried them for 9 months and gave birth to them. Men, can either take to parenting, or walk away. Some men don't even care that they have children and never see them. Women find it much harder to distance themselves from the child they created

Men and women are equal in all fields of life... But of course they outperform men in their specialties such as motherhood.

Multitasking
Cooking, grocery shopping, looking after the kids, helping them with homework, taking care of the in-laws as well as parents, sorting out best friends' problems, & working full time at the same time.
