Nothing about The Da Vinci Code is true. Even the fact that Dan Brown wrote it. See a recent article in Vanity Fair about the man who is fighting Dan Brown for credit for all of the ideas and much of the dialogue in the book.
Don't Believe the Hype.

Angels and demons is a work of pure fiction. The DaVinci Code is different. It is a fictional story which uses lots of factual and theoretical information in order to present a mystery.Holy Blood Holy Grail is worth reading if you found the theory of Jesus being married to Mary Magdalen an interesting one.
If you are determined to make your own mind up I recommend you try reading some of the dead sea scrolls; the Nag Hammadi. These are the lost gospels of the early Christian Church. In about the 3rd century the Catholic church in it's infancy convened and chose which parts of the 'Jesus' literature would make up the New Testament. In other words they decided what their religion was to promote and encompass and then tried to destroy all evidence which did not fit in with their ideals and their story line for Jesus' life.
The Dead Sea Scrolls are those other gospels which were taken and hidden to prevent destruction. They have been authenticated as being from the same era as the other gospels. There is the Gospel of Thomas and the Gospel of Mary Magdalen for starters.
So in answer to your question... It is a matter of your own belief... if you read the evidence before you and think that the Dan Brown story is based in some truth there are plenty of sources to back up the theory.

It's a mixture of fact and fiction. I'm really sure you can't say that it's 100% fiction because it's not. There are real facts used in this book wether people like it or not.

Brown had a nice, attention-grabbing ideas, however - it is just a book! It is not that all his points are riddiculous, sensless, that it cannot be prooved or sth. So - it is a good piece of literature. But - ONLY literature...

There are some historical facts presented in the book, but the work itself is pure fiction.
