Depends as to whether you want to calculate the area of a regular pentagon or not.For a regular pentagon , area=1/2 * {perimeter} * { perpendicular from center to any side} . This formula applies to any "regular" polygon . in case of an ir-regular pentagon , divide it into 5 triangles, find the area of each & add. There's no other alternative as the triangles formed in case of a ir-regular pentagon are usually scalene triangles.......

Regular pentagon or equilateral Pentagon, with all sides equal is 5 x the area of any one of the triangles.

Other wise it is the sum of the areas of five different triangles.

divide the pentagon, by drawing one diagonal, into a quadrilateral and a triangle. calculate the area of the quadrilateral and the triangle and add the two to get the area of a pentagon.

A Five sided figure is called pentagan.To calculate the area in pentagon.u can divided the area into three triangle and find thier areas,then add them togeather.area of triangle is Sqrt{s(s-a)(s-b)(s-c)}.
