.mobi landrush registration has started . Does anyone know rules about registering domains which are trademarked or coprighted?

Example : ww.gap.mobi, toshiba.mobi?

If the above domains are available can i buy it assuming i wont get sued or asked to give up these domain names?

You can actually register any domain name you want subject to the provider's terms. But ask yourself this question: why do I want to register this domain name?

If it's to:

a) Get a free ride on someone's brand and somehow make money of it.

b) Try to sell it to a party who possibly holds a trademark for the term/s.

c) Intentionally prevent the party from using it.

Then yes, you can be considered to be infringing their trademark rights by engaging in "cybersquatting". It can be a huge risk depending on who you're dealing with, especially if you and the other party happen to be in the same geographic location.

And some parties DO like a challenge.

Weigh your risk.

Take some time and read these articles:

Official .mobi sites:

I also suggest you to do a serious research and try to stay away from registering trademarks. Mobile companies have huge financial resources and you can get serious trouble.

That sounds like cybersquatting & you should read more about it before doing this:

You can read what ICANN (The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) says about this issue at these links:

Hope that helps!
