GEORGE W BUSH!!!! WITHOUT A DOUBT!!!!!!
GOTHCHA!! (As in not in top 42)
I'd have to go with George Washington. He was an officer in the British Army who later went on to lead his country in the triumph over tyranny. As the US Commander, he lost more battles than he won, but he never gave up. Through seven bloody years he persevered and rallied the patriot army to a seemingly impossible victory at Yorktown.
As President, he remained humble and true to his people, and helped establish the guiding foundations for the world's first true democracy. At the end of his second term, he could have declared himself king or President for life. Many were calling for him to do so. But instead he chose the true path of liberty and walked away allowing for all the free and fair elections that followed.
