I work in a homeless project for males......OMG this program has nothing on what I see on a daily basis!!!!
People who pee in bottles and stand them all round the room, ciggy stumps everywhere, dirty clothes, bedding that was one a colour and now is black and sticky! I can't put it into words, but Yes some people do choose to live like this....believe me!!!!

I think people who live like this have other deep-rooted psychological problems and need help -we shouldn't always be so quick to judge them on face value. But I'm sure there are those who are just bone idle. They don't deserve to get their house cleaned for free! Also I wondered where all that furniture came from at the end -he had 'none' apparently at the start of the programme, yet by the end he'd amassed the contents of a small Ikea store..... His flat was nicer than mine by the end of it! That's not fair!!!!

he had a drink or drugs problem, i'm not saying alcoholics or drug addicts are dirty by any means but he surely had some problem. and to make it worse his dog was nervy and it slept in his bedroom and what do nervy dogs do?, i just wonder if before did he even bother to clean the dogs mess up. if he lived on my street he would have been phyiscally removed while the locals emptied his house contents into a skip. the 2 women felt sorry for him if had have been younger or a student they would have ripped him apart. they must have seen something from his background that was'nt shown on tv.

There is a couple next door to me who live in abject filth. They never do any cleaning, have 4 dogs, and the place is a complete shithole.

that house was a palace compared to what I use to photography when I worked for the environment agency I have seen houses worse than that and I have seen houses where there as been **** roaches and maggots on the floors and in the cupboards. I have even seen rats in the bathrooms of some of the houses I have been too as there as been that much sh*t on the floor, also I have seen bedrooms swarming with flies and the smell you never get rid of it

Lol, I saw that last night! Man, what a mess! How can anyone live in such squalor!
The bloke must smell. Do you think the man should have his dog taken from him and he be charged with animal cruelty?

Absolutely unreal - that poor dog!
My estranged parents lived like this - they violently refused my help to clear up when I discovered this (actually physically attacking and restraining me), and social services were only able to step in when one of them died there while the other was in hospital with a stroke. It was an appalling mess which their failing eyesight and senses refused to acknowledge.
But this guy had absolutely no excuses....

I have seen similar things, and can't believe that people don't get sick and die from living in such mess and filth, surely the place is teeming with bugs and germs...gross.

that was bad! I was quite untidy years ago when I had a serious drnk problem but even in my worse states I was still hygenic. There's no excuse for that and what was he thinking letting national t.v. is his home? I dont get it. Surely if you are that bothered about it, you wouldn't want half of britain knowing
