Does a normal(older, i.e which came out priop to dual layer dvds)DVD-ROM read Dual layer DVD discs?

Or do i need a new one to play them

Yes, it does. I have that kind of older DVD-ROM and it reads my Sony video camera Dual layered mini-DVD's.

Yes! It can read, But you will have to flip it manually?Dual layer DVDs writes on both sides of the disk that's why there is not printing on it!
Dual layer DVD writer at the moment write on single side only, your need to flip it manually to continue writing on the other side.
