If you observe a worm moving forwards, you can rest assured that the front end is at the front and vice-versa.

On an earthworm the clitellum, a swollen glandular region that is often a slightly different color, is closer to the anterior (front) end. Also in many species the posterior (rear) end is somewhat flattened. Also, an earthworm crawls forward, so if you put it on the ground and watch it crawl it will show you which end is front.

One section of a worm has a thick, wrinkley feature..I think the worm's head is near that end. I wonder if a worm has a face.

The part that the worm is leading with is the front unless it's dead and then you will have to look really close I guess.

The front end is furthest away from the saddle it's a double segment which snaps when birds try to eat them so one end survives.
