Every now and then my dash dies. My gas works but the tack, temp, and speedometer quit working. Is an electrical problem or something else? Please tell me how 2 fix it.

The first thing I'd do when the dash dies is see if you can get it to come back by jiggling the ignition key. I had a car where I had a bad ignition switch that would sometimes cause some electrical systems to die but not others, and this is one of the easiest tests there is.

If not, look for loose connectors behind the dash.

b 4 u start tearing up dash boards and wiring harnesses........
stop right there
have someone run a diagnostic check on the BODY CONTROL COMPUTER
it is a small computer box that controls all of the gauges, turn signals and accessories
easy to check and replace
do not tear up the dash looking for a short

Most common are the connectors at the back of the instrument cluster or at the body control module, the terminals have no/intermittent contact..Also check the fuses in the junction block, mighht have an open fuse..

Its a wiring problem. The only way to fix it is to dig in and find the loose wires or replace the instrument panel to see if is the internal wiring.Hope I have been helpful.
