Does anyone know what that means? It doesn't seem to matter who I'm fighting (muggers/aliens/zombies etc) when I need to use the gun to protect me, it never works and I have to either run or I wake up.

Does anyone know anything about dream interpretation?

And no jokes about shooting blanks! I have a daughter! >;op

You didn't mentioned if you were protecting yourself or others. If it was just yourself, I have an opinion.

From a psychoanalyitic POV, the gun is very phallic, and in classic 'Man' the gun can represent the penis - your centre of power, at least in the eyes of the Id. The fact that the gun won't fire points to unconcious worries that you aren't exerting enough power and influence in the 'fights' in your life, the 'fights' could include problems at home, at work and in your personal life. All this probably stems from events from your past, perhaps there's been a situation in which you, retrospectively, think you should've acted more boldly, put your foot down or exerted your interest for your own gains.

It doesn't make you a bad person.

Dreams can often have more complex meanings than we'd like to think - thank goodness, otherwise we'd all be condemned as criminals because of dreams!

You could be frustrated at the world around you or even at yourself. Your dreams give you a safe way to act out dangerous situations. The fact that you cannot fire can also mean you are a mature person who does not act on violent impulse, even if it means you might take the blows sometimes (in real, waking life).

As for the unsavory joke about firing blanks, it is often misunderstood. That which is sexual may not always be seen physically in real life, but can be hidden beneath innuendoes etc. If you really do have an issue, it could be more mental than physical.

And I'm sure your daughter is proud to have you as a Dad, because your dream also reveals you'll make lots of sacrifices for her.

The fighting means that there is a great struggle in your life at this time. Your attempt at fighting means you are ready to face what is there. The fact that you are unable to fight back shows that you are either unsure how to fight back or don't know exactly what you are facing. Since you are unsure what you are facing "muggers/aliens/zombies" I would say you don't know what you are facing. The fact you must leave by running away or that you wake up means that you to reevaluate what is going on in your life and see what is causing so much trouble in your life now.

Perhaps you just have a deep respect for life and all things living- The fact that these things chasing you are muggers, and horrible things etc, your inability to kill them maybe shows that you are a decent human being and that it doesn't make it your right to take a life.

Obviously its only pure speculation on my part that this is what it means, as I do not have any idea as to how dreams work or what they represent-
but it's a nice thought :o)

In my dream directory this is what a dream of gun represents;
A gun is a symbol of aggression, shooting someone means that you feel aggression towards some person or the part of yourself that this person represents, the gun also represents the male sexual organ and drive, if the weapon doesn't fire, the dreamer has feelings of sexual inadequacy, depending on the circumstances in the dream the gun can be interpreted in many ways, you may be using the gun to protect something that is of value to you, killing someone may be a message that you have violent feelings towards this person and wish to eliminate him/her from your life.

I have chase dreams like that. Aint got a clue what they are about, but they're exciting. I had one where I was hiding under a car with an Uzi, when the guys walked past I fired at their ankles, but, they had on bulletproof shoes. Where the fcuk did the idea of bulletproof shoes come from. The power of dreams to make you think the weirdest things are logical (in the dream) always amazes and amuses me.

The meaning depends on your relationship to the gun.Holding it connects with your feelings of power, defensiveness,or the desire to hurt some one.You may be bulldozing someone into a decision. If some one else has the gun,it shows vulnerability, fear of being hurt,or of death.Whatever the situation, the gun dream is about meeting or using emotions connected with how we dominate, are dominated,or defend ourselves.Which of these applies to you.Being shot is often about real hurts we have felt when some one else attacks us verbally or by their attitude or action. It is often better to acknowledge what you feel. The loaded gun means that real consequences can arise from using power to threaten or hurt-or be threatened and hurt. What situation are you facing in your life now that seems to be loaded?I hope you stop having these dreams soon.Best of luck to you.

My guess is that it probably mens that you are feeling temporarily inadequate or overwhelmed to encounter the difficulties of life.

My version of the same theme is that I go to rev my motorcycle up, but it only putters away at five miles an hour, even at full throttle.

Whatever the particular images are, we all have dreams like this, where we don't seem to have the tools for coping with things. Sometimes it's trying to run, but going in slow motion, as if in quicksand. That's very common, too.

perhaps subconsciously you have a conflict about using guns. could explain why the gun never works.

this may also stem from some stress you are feeling in your life, that you feel you are unable to fulfill some task that is presented to you.

could just be a goofy reaccurring dream, too. i used to have horrible nightmares all the time about drowning in a car. never the same car and always someone else driving (friend, aunt, mother, etc) they just stopped one day. an old friend of mine said i was a reincarnate of a young girl who had died this way perhaps at the time the dreams were accurring the most (around 26yrs old)

i thought he was goofy too

Every dreams is different to different persons. From your dreams it seems you are don't have enough guts to do something that you wish for cos in the end,you are back off.
Sometimes, a dream is nothing meaning at all depend on the food what you eat and what you do before or what you thinking before sleep. So, don't worry for some dreams like this.
