Wars will stop when the US decides to stop dictating to other nations and let them manage their own countries. We have interfered in many domestic problems...Korea, Viet-Nam, and now in the middle east and we want to impose democracy on them....but democracy is a luxury and learned civic responsibilities. The goverenment that we sanctioned for Iraq will fail and the problem will not abate. At the moment there are about 25 countries with political turmoil...good or bad, let them sort their problems out without any outside interference. The US jumps into prevent Russia, or China and then wants to install a leader...that is to say, someone sympathetic to the US and the all hell breaks loose and we are bogged down in a quagmire of politicians, big business and illiterate leaders who don't understand diplomacy or the idea of remaining neutral. We have supported too many petty dictators that have turned around to bite us in the butt...isn't that a signal that domestic affairs should be managed by the people of those countries. It is a pity that there will be genocides, but what we we do...hasten it? Our foreign policy is poor and our big band-aid of foreign aid sucks. We do things so badly that the majority of the world lives in fear of the US and would like to see its downfall.

We can't, only the Iraqis can. The civil war that we created will end years after we leave with a regime that makes Saddam Hussein look like St. Nick.

to the first answerer: the US needs to manufacture arms and replace its old stock. in this way it can defend itself. what it can do is stop *selling* arms, which sounds like a good idea to me. but to say the US should stop making tools to defend itself, you might as well just become a terrorist.
The war can be stopped by destroying terrorism, and killing people who think the US shouldnt defend itself.

which war?
if you mean the one which makes the most victims just now, then I guess the best way would be to blockade China and stop them from supplying guns and anti personnel mines to the Sudanese warlords. Alternatively send troops into Darfur.

OTOH that would be so "unilateral" and "neocon" and "colonialistic"...???
Nah, let's stay perfectly Politically Correct and do nothing...

I'd like to see us give the Iraqui govt a timeline. They need to do more for themselves, but as long as we are there--they don't have to step it up. We'd also need to figure out a way to end sectarian violence......I believe that will only happen when Muslim leaders demand it.

We must stop the Bush, and the war will stop ! We must create a new Congress and House, a new V.P., and a brand new Administration. If you love your country this is what we must do.
