Have you ever noticed how some people will move about quite a lot, even when they are sitting doing nothing - a shaking leg, energetic arm movements etc. It is because they exercise indirectly that they are able to burn the calories.

Ultimately, if you don't want to gain weight - watch what you eat and exercise regularly.

Probably you are an active person, who is busy all day long and probably go to sleep at late hours. I have a girl friend who is very skinny and who eats and drinks a lot of junk, but she is always in very good shape.
I think is because she is really active, she goes to work very early in the morning, she runs different earrnds all day and afterwards she goes to the gym, swims or whetever... but she always does some sports or something to relax. And at night she goes partying...
So if you think you have a life similar to hers... those are probably the reasons you cannont gain weight...

If you're eating the wrong food. You need to eat proper food, but lots of it, and a daily mars would help. If you can't gain weight you have a high metabolism or possible an overactive thyroid. Ask your doctor.

Individual variations apply.Important ones are constitutional(parent's physical characteristics)

As long as one is eating healthily and functioning adequately I wouldn't worry about gaining weight.
If one is suffering from malignancy/tumour then weight gain is not possible as calories are taken up by the cancer cells.bit alarming but then the weight loss will be rapid with other symptoms like decreased appetite etc.
