Has this been going on a long time? And male students were just afraid of coming out. Or did teachers get the idea to do this, because one teacher started to do it?

I think it has been happening long before. There was always the theory that horny boys could not be raped because they had to have an erection to have sex. Having an erection is true but we are not talking about the act of having sex but the ability to make an adult decision to have sex. On the other hand if a girl has sex with her teacher it may not be to her choosing and the same as the boys, if the girl willingly agrees to have sex with her teacher, can she make an adult decision to do so? I think for many years boys have been having sex with adults and it was just not considered a bad thing because the boys most likely enjoyed it.

I think its a combination of things.

1. The rise of Secularism in America. It used to be that most people were taught good from bad. Ever since the 'If It Feels Good, Do It' generation of the 60s and 70s (my peeps) the lack of impulse control has washed away the boundaries of what is acceptable. This has led to everything from 'Going Postal' to Bill Clinton and Monica.

2. Tabloid journalism - sex sells. Many in the news media are more interested in the sensational story than real news. So, we are offered 'news' programs that seem more like soap operas than journalism.
