I live in NE.PA. When is the best time to put down winterizer fertilizer with weed control? I used Scotts plus 2 during the summer and had poor results as far as weed control is concerned. Thanks

I'M IN SOUTH DAKOTA AND WINTERIZE IN EARLY TO MID OCTOBER. I USE THE SCOTT'S WEED AND FEED AND HAVE GREAT LUCK BUT I SET THE SPREADER UP A LITTLE HIGHER THAN THE DIRECTIONS SAY. I ALSO USE IT ABOUT 4 TIMES A YEAR, I GET THE GRASS WET BEFORE PUTTING IT ON SO IT WILL STICK TO THE LEAVES AND DON'T WATER FOR 24 HOURS. YOU HAVE TO GIVE IT TIME TO SOAK IN TO KILL THE WEEDS BETTER. THEN I WATER IT ABOUT 2-3 TIMES A WEEK, DEPENDING ON THE HEAT, AND REALLY SOAK IT, THEN LET IT GO. WATERING EVERY DAY FOR A FEW MINUTES JUST DOESN'T WORK WELL. NOT TO BRAG BUT I'VE HAD A FANTASTIC LAWN. YOU JUST HAVE TO CHECK THE DIRECTIONS ON YOUR SPREADER AND THE SCOTT'S. IF YOU HAVE WEEDS THAT JUST DON'T KILL OFF YOU MIGHT WANT TO CONTACT THE LOCAL EXTENSION AGENT, HE CAN TELL YOU HOW TO GET THEM.

I am doing mine today. I tried Scotts a couple of years ago, it didn't work well for me. So I use a brand from Canadaian Tire or Walmart stores. It always works fine. Good Luck. :):):)

ask your local plant nursery or call a garden center and ask them, each climate is different, but i think it should be before your first frost.
