All the answers about spyware and virus are great, but there are a few other things you should check. How many programs do you have running on start-up? The more programs you have running, the slower your computer will be. If you have a lot of programs showing in your taskbar, that is probably one of the problems. Basically, all you really need in your taskbar are your antivirus,firewall, and connection status. Some spyware programs have a tab that let you enable/disable startup programs; if not, there are free programs out there that let you configure, and also one right in your computer. Secondly, have you ran a registry check lately? A bloated registry is one thing that will definitely slow you down big time. Two free programs are abexo free registry and eusing free registry. Always set a system restore before running these. Also, Ashampoo has a free trial of WinOptimizer, and it actually lets you use it to repair all sorts of things.They also have a great free firewall, better than zone alarm, in my opinion. You might also consider changing your antivirus program. I previously had Symantec and Kaspersky, and found them to slow down my computer to a crawl. I now use AVG free edition and Ashampoo firewall, and can't believe how fast my computer functions with these changes. One more point; when running a spyware scan, do it in safemode. Spyware can't run in safe mode, so it won't be able to interfere with your scan. Same goes for running antivirus scan. Good luck, hope everyone helps you figure out how to get up and running.

Good Morning your problem might be spyware related. Are you currently using any spyware protection? If you have it run it and see what that does. I Have a computer help page go there and run the tests on my page and then go to this sight and download Advanced Windows Care run that . When your connection seems slow or draged use Windows care you will be up and moving again . I hope this helps Take Care Barb

There must be a virus in it. Format all drives and reinstall all the software. Also dont forget to install antivirus.

Increase the size of your paging file....control panel....system icon....advanced tab....performance......settings....advanced.....virtual memory.....change. Change this to about 900 mb. Your computer will respond ever so fast after this.

you might be having some spyware in your pc ... this slower your pc performance, try to download ad-ware removal personal from http://www.lavasoft.com .. and check if you have some in your PC

If you don't have BOTH AdAware and Spybot, you NEED them. Both of them. Download them, update them, and run them. Hopefully that'll help.
