Very good question. I do trust our gov. I trust them more after 9/11. they are trying to take all precautions of making sure our freedom is safe.
I have to trust them because it I sit here a complain about this and that, where is that going to get me? I vote at all elections and I take pride in our country. I may not agree with a lot of the things that try to pass through our congress and governed bodies, but if I don't like it I could go live in another country. No one is every going to agree with everyone, if we did it would be a very boring place. Every country has their problems. i choose to stay here in America and try my best to make it a better place to live. Remember a good base for society starts at home..

For all those who don't trust this government, why are you still here? If the government of your own country is so dishonest, then go to some other country where the government gives you hand-outs, where the government taxes less than a third of your paycheck, where the government lets you speak out against it, where the government lets you vote new members in more often than most places.
Governments are comprised of people, and people are imperfect. So, if you are looking for the perfect government with no flaws, then you may want to reconsider living in this country, planet or even kingdom. You could "go swim with the fishes", as the mob likes to put it, to find a more perfect government!
Now, since a butt-ton of you are soooooooooooo unhappy with President Bush, then I'll tell ya what ya need to do . . . . . get your butt elected President in '08, attempt to do half the job of any man that has been President, and I assure you that you will have millions of haters and complainers! Let's see, it won't happen, so better yet . . . . Move to Canada or Australia. Oh wait, then you'll probably just start complaining about their government. So, go find a deserted island, and like Tom Hanks did, make a volleyball your only companion. Oh wait! Then you'll complain that volleyball is taking over and trying to implement its own form of government.
Face it, you're not happy. You never were, and you never will be!

I trust them in total, individually or in their own little groups such as the progressive socialists, I do not trust them at all. Because of the size of the group they seem to cancel out each others lunacy.
What really needs to happen is term limits on congress, one term only, publicly funded elections with each getting the same amount of money to run for office one time if they win.
Another good option would be to confirm that the original 13th amendment was in fact ratified by Virginia and eliminate all lawyers from holding office or working in government, now that would be an excellent thing.

Government creates fear in people because it is not undertood for what it is designed to be.
The government is run by people who are elected not because they are the best for the job, but because they are liked by the most people. Think about people in your life who want to be liked by everybody and wonder if they are very truthful or are just telling you what you want to hear.
You should never blindly trust anything, isn't that what growing up is all about. Why do you think old people are so grumpy? They've seen all this before but none of the younger generation will listen to them.
Peace

Government is always good,
What is making it bad are the politicians,
Trust the government but not the politicians,
Thus, in the next election, put the proper people in government.

I wish you'd have given me this written question ahead of time so I could plan for it…I'm sure something will pop into my head here in the midst of this press conference, with all the pressure of trying to come up with answer, but it hadn't yet….I don't want to sound like I have made no mistakes. I'm confident I have. I just haven't — you just put me under the spot here, and maybe I'm not as quick on my feet as I should be in coming up with one." —President George W. Bush, after being asked to name the biggest mistake he had made, Washington, D.C., April 3, 2004
George Orwell could answer that better.
The loyal citizens of (America)Oceania do not fear Big Brother, but in fact love and revere him. They feel he protects them from the evils out there.
At this moment the entire group of people broke into a deep, slow, rhythmic chant of 'B-B! .... B-B! .... B-B!'—over and over again, very slowly, with a long pause between the first 'B' and the second—a heavy mumurous sound, somehow curiously savage, in the background of one which seemed to hear the stamps of naked feet and the throbbing of tom-toms. For perhaps as much as thirty seconds they kept it up. It was a refrain that was often heard in moments of overwhelming emotion. Partly it was a sort of hymn to the wisdom and majesty of Big Brother, but still more it was an act of self-hypnosis, a deliberate drowning of consciousness by means of rhythmic noise.
"I'm the commander — see, I don't need to explain — I do not need to explain why I say things. That's the interesting thing about being president." —as quoted in Bob Woodward's Bush at War

There are many reasons not to trust them. We didn't invent this government to be our nanny, they were put here to protect this country. Libs want more conservatives want less

Well we keep catching them lying to us and when we do they say we're unpatriotic for looking at what they're doing.. So no, everything they do is suspect at the moment.
