I would say yes. I quit four months ago and I feel wonderful. I have gained ten pounds and now I weigh 150 pounds. The food tastes better and I can smell the fresh air. I don't wake up coughing and I can play with my kids for more than 5 minutes. I can exercise and chase my miniature daschund around the house. I get more work done instead of taking smoke breaks. I smell better and my kids thank God every night because I quit. I still crave them but to give all that up would be very unwise. I couldn't smoke again and look my kids in their eyes. Also my dad quit 3 years ago. He smoked for 50 years and he is not in good shape. He has emphysema and COPD. He feels a little better but it is very hard for him to breath. I smoked for 14 years and I regret it. Please tell everyone you know not to start and if they do to quit. They owe it to their loved ones and to themselves. My girlfriend and my 5 siblings still smoke but I keep urging them. I pray that they will quit too. I feel great!! Later.

Actually I was once told by a chinese doctor that if you have been smoking for more than ten years that it would be wrong for you to pack up smoking as this could excite and trigger your natural cancer cells and lead to some form of cancerous infection. I don't know if this is true but upon researching into it there does seem to be an element of truth there.

My friend gave up 3 years ago and she still says she could light up again at any time.
However, she does say her taste in smell and taste got better and she feels a lot healthier. The only downside she says is that she's put on weight.

Oh yes, big-time!
The first effects are physical, you feel fitter and your sense of taste and smell come back. Then psychological, a nice little lift every time you realise you are free, not to mention, no longer having to worry about inflicting your ashtray-breath or stinking clothes and hair on others.

Physically - for sure!
Emotionally, perhaps. Sometimes I miss the stress release that smoking provides, but mostly I'm happy I quit.
