I can understand your dilemma, but would suggest that it rather depends on who you are dining with. Some people would be rather offended by such a habit. Probably best if you avoid red meats alltogether when dining out with others and save the pleasure for when you are at home!

If you really have to spit out, do so discreetly. And even if you'd do it discreetly, make sure you leave the chewed meat on the plate. Don't leave it on the table otherwise the waiter'll get disgusted.

That's OK, as long as you do it in private. I don't eat anything with a mushy consistency, like lollies or eggplant. with lollies i suck on them and then put them into a napkin. I think it's alright.

It is OK to take out a bit of something that is gristly or has a bone it but it should be done as a way of eating. It is kinda gross.

As long as you are using a napkin, that is acceptable.

As far as you are using napkin, there is no problem and there wouldn't be a problem where you are.

Discretely.

That's the thing.

My wife doesn't like me to crack marrow and suck it. So it has to be a private pleasure.

maybe do that at home -- not in public -- spitting out a whole steak one mouthful at a time is kind of gross
