Tonight I ripped up all the stinky tile, or at least all that came up easily, but under it was VERY rotten wood. Is there a way to save this floor?

BEEN THERE. IF YOU LOVE YOUR DOG AS MUCH AS I LOVE MINE, TRY THIS IF THE FLOOR ISN'T SO ROTTEN IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED:

IF IT IS ONLY WET, STAINED OR MILDEWED, YOU CAN:

DRY OUT THE FLOOR AREA USING A FAN AND/OR HAIR DRYER

PURCHASE KILZ SEALER AND PAINT TWO COATS OVER THE AREA WHERE YOU CAN SEE THE STAIN AND AS FAR PAST THE STAIN AS YOU CAN GO. THIS WILL PREMANANTLY SEAL THE AREA SO YOU CAN RETILE AND YOUR DOG WILL NO LONGER BE ABLE TO SMELL URINE, WHICH MAY HELP WITH FUTURE PEE ISSUES.

YOU MIGHT WANT TO CONSIDER PUTTING DOWN A PEICE OF SHEET VINYL FLOORING RATHER THAN VINYL TILES TO PROTECT THE WOOD FLOOR FROM FUTURE DAMAGE SINCE THERE WOULD BE NO CRACKS FOR THE URINE SO SEEP INTO.

IF you mean wood floor as in plywood subfloor you're in luck. We had the same problem with our carpet. Pull it up, remove the padding and the nail strips around the perimeter. Vacuum thoroughly with a shop vac or regular house vacuum. Get all the dust off the floor. Then paint the floor with KILZ primer; it comes as white but you can tint it if desired. Apply to floor with paint rollers just like you would a wall. You may need two coats. KILZ will seal the stains and odor. Good stuff!! If you have REAL hardwood floors, then you're screwed (sort of). The floors can be reclaimed but it requires serious sanding and staining. The equipment to be rented, dust abatement and cleanup probably will take more than a weekend. Good luck.

If the wood is rotted, then no, you cannot save it. If it is just stinky - then you can seal the entire floor with a sealant like Killz (available in the paint section). Wait until you have dealt with the dog peeing issue and then do the entire area affected and then put down new flooring.
Medications are available for senility in dogs - may offer some help.

If the floor is rotten, then it'll have to be replaced, if not the whole floor then at least the section that's rotten. If it's only wet and you want to dry it, then get a fan and let it blow on the area.
You need to deal with the dog though and I would suggest using pee pads of some sort, or thick layers of newspaper.

Is it rotted, as in the wood has started to breakdown to the point of falling apart or are you just talking about a little milldew? If the wood is starting to come apart, your best bet would be to get a few repairmen to come take a look at it and give an estimate to have it properly fixed. If is just the mildew, use a little bleach and keep the dog from pissing on it more

i have the same problem, the other awnsers look good except for cat woman, but i'm sure pushing around a shopping cart full of cat food in your slippers and bathrobe, while muttering to herself can make anyone cranky. john

Sorry to say but I think you will have to replace all the damaged wood. Ouch...That could be costly.

Pour bleach on it and rinse with a mop after it stops bubbling.
