There's an amazing place called Elgol, which is on Skye. One summer a friend and myself got the post bus from Broadford and spent a few hours there. We lay on the cliff tops looking down to the ruins of an old croft house on the shore line - thinking about how hardy the people who worked the land used to be - before they were cleared off the land. We looked at the views over the water to the Cuillins; it was almost as if we were standing inside a postcard. This is what I love about Scotland - the mix of history with the awe inspiring beauty of the land. I am a Scot ,living in England - and I aften hanker after these kinds of things.

Oh yeah, Braveheart. That's the fictional fantasy film they shot in Ireland, with an Australian actor in the lead role reanacting the Battle of Stirling Bridge, but without the bridge. Or a river. Sort of in a big, flat field. History, eh. You just can't beat it.

The scenery is some of the best in the world. By the way Brian, Tom Jones is not from Scotland. He is welsh.

Engineering. Everywhere I've ever worked, there has always been a Scottish Engineer in charge. Even Captain Kirk had one on the Enterprise!

My husband used to live in Glasgow till he was 7 and loved how beautiful it was. We're going this year (my first time) and I can't wait! I hear it rains a lot though? I guess with the beautiful scenery it doesn't matter.
