They don't close for lunch ....... good god, half the planets economies would collapse if the LSE shut-up shop for 45 mins while Derirck & his mates popped out for a pimms and a pasty!

The NYSE does not close for lunch. The guys on the floor of the NYSE usually have lunch delivered and eat it in the booth. Or they send a junior guy out to bring it back. Either way, they eat it in the booth - usually their breakfast too.
Same holds true for NASDAQ traders, but they obviously eat it at their desk since there is no centralized exchange.

It doesnt close for lunch as such, people take it in turns so that it is always open over the lunch time period

It doesn't it's a market - it opens and closes exactly once a day. No lunch for the market - it doesn't eat food.
