When I was looking at computers for my sister (she is an art major and her college required a computer with high end graphics capability and suggested a mac) I noticed that if you buy a PC with a graphics card with the same specs as those that come standard on a mac you end up spending the approximately the same amount (assuming the other specs for the computers are similar). This leads me to believe that one big factor in the price difference is the graphics card that macs come with.
