go to ur mail with I . E
right click on it then press Create Shotcut

if u reinstall your yahoo messenger, it will put a yahoo mail icon on ur desktop. if u dont wanna do that, right click on ur task bar, choose properties, click start menu, click customize. where it says email, check that box and set it to yahoo mail. click ok, click ok. click on the start menu and scroll up to where it says e-mail, yahoo! mail, left click and hold and drag it to the desktop, let go and choose create shortcut here.

should of already installed on desk top might have to reinstall it again and choose create desktop icon but i should have done it automaticly
