My husband never wore any jewelry at all before our wedding. He plays with his ring because he's still getting used to the feeling of wearing it. I fidget with mine occasionally too, though I had time to get used to it while wearing my engagement ring. Anyone can have any number of reasons for messing with a piece of jewelry, be it simple boredom or part of a deep thought process or just "breaking it in".

Its just fidgeting, as people have said. It could be any ring. I've always found that a ring that is, maybe, a half-size too big invites spinning by calling attention to itself.

I find it hard to believe there's any big, deep, psychological thing for most people who do that.

It's not just wedding rings.... you will find that people play with anything that they can, especially if it's to pass a little time whilst they are waiting for something.

some time back (in a psych class, actually) i was told that means that someone is thinking about their mate. it could be a good or bad thing depending on their thoughts.

i do know some people do it absently because they tend to fidget, so i'm not sure that would apply to everyone.

dang. now i want to know why people do it.

That's cuz some people fidget. I know I've done it a few times, usually absentmindedly. Doesn't mean anything.
