I have lost my will or energy to start making new friends. Isn't the pain of loneliness milder than the pain of hurt?

When you get past your 30's you have a general lack of friends becuase everyone past this age will be focused on themselves. You might be doing this. It is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all. (Who said that?) Be happy and stay active. Reading and people are the only way we get ideas, change, and move forward (tv and radio don't really count.) :)

From loneliness many artists or genius' are born. When you relax and be at ease with yourself friends will come, slowly, slowly. Desperateness keeps people away. Friendship takes time no need to force it. I know this from my own experience.

But both are peanuts compared to the thrill discovering new shared experiences and the joy of opening your heart to others.

What's a little pain compared to the wonder of new friendship?

I don't know about that. Actually, I'm going through the same thing. And I don't even care about it this very moment. I think the hurt is worse. I hate all of them right now. I think they're backstabbers & that's stronger than my lonliness.
