I was watching MTV yesterday, and there were these women referring to themselves as chicks and worse. Is it only me who thinks calling yourself that is much worse than some silly kid trying to look charismatic doing so? I don't think I could ever take someone who calls herself like that seriously, let alone any such guy. So, do you think it's just because I am hopelessly out of date with modern standards?

I didn't want to write the rather worse names women seem to use to refer to themselves, because I think "chick" is bad enough, for what it denotes. But, I also have heard MUCH worse, even here on Yahoo!Answers... Strange world...

MTV is complete sexist propaganda. Women constantly degrade themselves on that station. It's sickening. Most of it stems from low self-esteem and ignorance.

No, but I've heard women call each other names worse than that, like I'm one hot b----. Chick doesn't really bother me. I've heard worse. Especially on MTV

I don't know why they do it but I agree totally with you. Me a guy and I can't even call a female dog that word.
