Does it seem like the residents of Mid-western states are a little more, shall we say.....surly, grumpy, or unfriendly, then people are on the west coast ?

yes. people on the west coast are the nicest and i have lived a lot of different places

I've only met a few people from the West coast, and it was a 50/50 split I'd say, with (no offense) CA being by far the worst. As far as the MidWest, I grew up in the Chicago area-yeah we're grumps, and also lived in Kansas City area. Kansas and Missouri the people were definitely friendlier. IMO the further you get from a big city, more rural, the nicer the people are.

Actually, I've known people and visited places around the world. Few places show the good old-fashioned hospitality I received on visits to small towns in the Mid-West. Don't get me wrong, people on the west coast can be just as friendly as I described and Mid-westerners can be as grumpy as anybody else. Your question implies that you live on the west coast and consider yourself to be somehow superior than another group of people. You should consider what it means for the pot to call the kettle black.

People on the west coast are the friendliest around. I'm not sure why. Maybe because everyone and everything is beautiful here.
People in the midwest eat their vegetables out of a can.
