I guess they want you to buy more tickets and tell your friends about the great value you got from a one way ticket! I have no clue, but I always thought that one way was more expensive than round trip!?!

It is a crazy old world.
Sometimes two singles are cheaper than one return.
Sometimes buying seperate tickets for each leg of a journey is cheaper than buying one for the whole journey.
Keeps us on our toes, I guess.

When flights have spare capacity, that is lost revenue. This can be filled by offering deals to people who either want to travel only one way e.g. move jobs: travel one way with no firm plans of a return date e.g. contract assignments, or people with the time to go shopping e.g retirees
