why do they call each other mother or father?

i sometimes hear some married couples calls their wives mother ortheir husbands father. I confuses me. i would never call my spouse like i usually call my parents.

well I don,t like that either and I would never do that,however I know people that do.I think they do that for the kids sake,and people do that when they have been married for years.Personaly I think its sorta silly

Parents call each other mother or father after they have children so their small children will do the same. They are so proud of who they are (parents) and who their child is they never stop. Some parents just get in the habit of calling each other mother and father, but I believe it is all in the name of love for each other.

Well, sometimes your spouse has a tendency to act like your parent. Other times you get in the habit of calling your spouse "mom" or "dad" when talking to your children, and it just sticks.

It comes from having kids....you would refer to your husband as Daddy alot to your kids or call you daddy infront of the kids, so it just gets picked up as a habbit, and keeps going after the kids are grown. It is kinda hard to explain, my grandparents do it.

they r refered by their son's father or son's mother

Maybe infront of the kids to promote what you would like to be called by them. Any other time - just your normal name!

see 1st of all understand that no person in the world can change the other person (views,opinions,thoughts) unless he or she wish to change. ok?

but we always try to impose our thoughts,views on others saying " I am correct, change your view.etc..."

then its like wife is teaching her husband or vice versa like his mother use to teach him when he was a child.
(same case for husband teaching wife like her father)
then they call it that way (mother- father).
wife should understand that her husband doesnot need another mother. same way husband should understand.

unless a person wants to change, no other person can make him change. Thats why it is a truth said " change your thoughts and it can change your world"

I think it comes naturally when a couple have children.

Sometimes mums tells their children: "Look at your dad!"

Thus, later, they sub-conscientiously develop a short form like " Look at DAD!"
