Dead Proxies!!! - Useless?

Question

I have a huge list of proxies , but when i checked them most of them were dead!!! ---

And i found only abt 10% of the total , were alive... But i want about 6,000-7,000 proxies to use..

So I want to know , if dead proxies can be used to connect?!?!?
(ie) can i still go to sites , while using a dead proxy!??!?

10% working! that's a good number. You should be satified even if one of them is working fine why 6000-7000?

The site which list proxies generally use software which checks for open port 8080 on a range of IP addresses and if the port is found opened on a system, it lists it as open proxy. Nobody spends time looking for them manually. A good site should check for all listed proxies to see if they are still working (they do and then provide them as Paid Service)...

So if you are looking for 6000-7000 addresses to start a similar site yourself then I have told you how to go about doing it...
