I've heard that in some places in america the divorce rate is over 70% (can't verify it though) and that nationally its somewhere around 40 to 50%. and that even in some religions its 42%. that tells me that we are doing something majorly wrong here. how much higher could the divorce rate be if we did have arranged marriages. What are your thoughts. hey it could work

A marriage in India is considered a marriage of families rather than the marriage of individuals. Once you understand this concept, one can even appreciate the beauty of arranged marriages. The parents try to solder the bonds with their friends by arranging marriages between their respective children. In olden times the boys and girls married in their teens so it was considered appropriate that the parents choose the spouses instead of leaving the decision to the kids

It takes much more than just the feeling of love to build a successful marriage. It takes your willingness and ability to care for and protect each other. But that feeling of incredible attraction is the best litmus test of your success in giving each other the care and protection that you need. If you are both in love, your Takers are convinced that the relationship is a good deal for both of you, and will not interfere with what's going on. Your Givers have free reign to provide each other the best of what you both have to offer.

When you are in love, your emotions help you meet each other's emotional needs. They provide instincts that you may not have even known you have -- instincts to be affectionate, sexual, conversational, recreational, honest and admiring. These all seem to come naturally when you are in love.

But when you fall out of love, everything that will help your marriage seems unnatural. Your instincts turn against marital recovery, and toward divorce. That's why I've created these Basic Concepts -- to help you do what it takes to restore your love for each other when you are not in love, when you don't feel like doing any of them. And then once your love is restored, these concepts will help you stay in love for the rest of your lives.

It is unfortunate that in the west the institution of marriage is been rgarded a a licensce to have legtimate sex and not an actual bonding of two people, this attitude has to change.

Society in America is F#CKED UP. That's the problem. It can't work. I'm sorry. Everything would have to have a new beginning for it to work. Music, television, the meaning of marriage, everyone's thoughts. I can go all day.

If you expect your spouse to complete you, make you happy, and satisfy every whim, then you'll probably be disappointed and get a divorce.

I think people in arranged marriages see their spouse as their partner and their marriage as a job. They do not see their spouse as an object of romance or the fulfillment of some sexual fantasy. Marriage is hard work. If you think of it as a job and not a fantasy you might be more successful.

Those cultures of arranged marriages also have rules of no divorce.

I wouldn't want to be stuck with someone I don't love or even find appealing.
